Heat It Up was added to my Netgalley approved list a couple of months ago, even though I hadn’t actually requested it! Always happy to give any book a go though 🙂
When I first started Heat It Up I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to make of it, but I have to say that I have enjoyed getting to know Sophia and Kyle.
Set in Finland, somewhere I have never been to but would like to visit one day (I have two friends there who were originally pen-pals), Sophia is on a summer work-exchange program whilst staying with her Grandmother who doesn’t speak much English. Kyle is an ex-professional hockey player who lost his career due to injury just over a year ago. He’s there spending the summer coaching teenagers. There’s a spark between Sophia and Kyle more or less instantly, but they’re both cautious due to what they’ve been through before. Sophia had her heart broken by her ex-boyfriend who also crushed any self confidence she had by telling her she was boring in bed! Kyle lost his wife in a car crash caused by a drunk driver. The same car crash which cost him his career. He thinks he’s happy numbing the pain with drink and one night stands. That is until he meets Sophia. Could she be the one to help him to move on? Sophia is understandably wary of men, but can’t help but be drawn to Kyle. Could he be the one to restore her battered confidence?
They try their best not to fall for each other, but are not very successful once they share some pretty steamy love-making! They have no idea, however, how much their pasts are linked.
Heat It Up is a very enjoyable romance with likeable characters. I really wanted things to work out between Sophia and Kyle and I enjoyed the relationships they share with their friends and family. It’s a heart-warming love story and one I’d be more than happy to recommend.
Many thanks to the Publisher and author for my ARC via Netgalley.
